Bad Skincare Buys, Try Not to Make These Mistakes by Kim Snyder

We all know that you can find tons of beauty deals online over going into a store. Are you sure you are really getting a deal? Some beauty products are not meant to be sold online, they are meant to be sold by someone who knows how to treat your skin.

Mistakes can be made if you are using beauty products that you are not sure how to use. One thing you need to really watch out for is beauty claims that just sound fake. Ever seen this one?”Stimulate fresh, wholesome, brand new skin in less than 30 days!” Or “Will decrease wrinkles in less than 30 days!” Just remember this, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

You can buy just about anything online these days, but is it really safe? Skincare products that have glycolic acid, retinoic acid, salicylic acid have a level that is only meant for a Dermatologist to apply to your skin. If you bought a skincare product that has a level over 10 percent of salicylic acid or 20 percent glycolic acid, and you didn’t get it from a doctor, you could be causing your skin damage without realizing it. A higher concentration can cause severe irritation and really needs to be monitored by a doctor.

Skin-lightening products are major sellers online these days. Did you know that if not careful you can really darken your skin instead of lightening it? Skin-lightening products that contain 4 percent hydroquinone require a prescription, so if you didn’t get it from a doctor your skin could react to it, and not in a nice way.

Products that are not FDA –approved are not for a reason. If you are using products that you just bought online that are not FDA-approved, and you are of Indian or African American descent you could cause so much damage to the integrity and pigment of your skin that it may not be fixable. If you are looking at buying your skincare products online, stick to what you know. If you want to try a brand new skincare product, check the ingredients.

If they don’t list them, ask for them. A good safe company will give you want you are ask for. If they don’t, safest thing to do it look elsewhere.
