A man losing his hair as he ages is about as inevitable as death or taxes, and nothing can be
done to stop it. However, fortunately for men, science has made leaps and bounds in
understanding what exactly causes hair loss, effective ways to stop it, and even in some cases,
possibly reverse it.
Scientists used to think that baldness was an inherited trait. New research, however, is now
showing that may not be the case anymore. We now know that an overabundance of the
hormone DHT may actually play a direct role in hair loss. When your body has a surplus of
DHT, it tends to lead to Follicular Miniaturization. This basically means, that over time, the hair
shaft becomes smaller and smaller.
There are some things that you can start doing now that will help you keep your hair and scalp
healthy and minimize the effects of DHT, and at the very least, slow down hair loss.
Keep Your Head Clean. All the hair products that you use on a daily basis can lead to build up
on your scalp and prevent the hair follicles from growing properly. Thoroughly washing your
scalp everyday can help removes that buildup which will allow for new hair growth.
Great Hair Starts On The Inside. No part of your body will be able to properly function if your
body is not getting the nutrition that it needs. Eating a well-balanced diet has many benefits, not
the least of which is healthy hair. Make sure that you are getting plenty of zinc, copper, and lean
protein in your diet by eating foods such as fish, leafy greens, and eggs. Make sure to drink
plenty of water to keep your hair and body properly hydrated.
Use Shampoos That Amp Up The Hair You Still Have. Using volumizing shampoos can make
your hair thicker, so try to use them on a regular basis.
Visit The Doctor Or Pharmacy. There are many prescriptions and over the counter hair loss
remedies that are in use today. Many of these have proven scientific results of being efficient.
However, it is important to remember that not all products work for all people. So you may have
to go through some trial and error. Also keep in mind that some of the prescription medications
for hair loss can have some unpleasant side effects. Carefully discuss these side effects with
your doctor before taking any medication.
We are lucky that we live in a day and age where science is learning more and more about
things we thought were impossible to solve. We now know that there are things we can do to
avoid—or slow—hair loss in men. By following the four simple tips above, you can dramatically
reduce your hair loss and even possible regrow some of the hair that you have lost.
