Mineral makeup overall has been around for years. Mineral foundations have become popular over the past few years because we as customers are finding that powder foundations can be really good for our skin. In fact due to idea that fewer ingredients in our makeup is better for us, we are helping our skin to have less breakouts and bad reactions by using mineral foundations.
One fact remains is not all brands of mineral makeup are created equal. Some brands are better than others due to the fact that they don’t add anything extra to their product lines that isn’t really from the earth.
True mineral makeup contains an assortment of finely milled minerals that can provide an luminous coverage, as well as sun protection and anti-inflammatory properties.
What is in your mineral makeup that gives it all these amazing properties? First off you have to understand that certain minerals are used for different reasons.
For example:
Zinc oxide is one ingredient you will find in your foundations due to the fact it offers excellent sun protection. Its an opaque mineral and its nearly water insoluble, meaning it doesn’t dissolve quickly when you sweat or if your face was to become wet from rain.
Another common ingredient is Titanium Dioxide which is the most widely used white pigment in the world due to the fact that has a high refractive index surpassed only by diamonds. When you refract light off your face for example it helps get the look of clean, pure glowing skin. It helps hide the fine lights and dark circles under your eyes. It also provides sun protection while giving you that healthy glow.
One ingredient call Bismuth Oxychloride is also known as “synthetic pearl” is often used to add shimmer to mineral makeup products. The problem with this ingredient is it can cause extreme irritation and actually make skin conditions worsen for many women. Its from the earth but its one ingredient that is best not be found in your foundations.
Another good thought about mineral makeup is it can provide fabulous coverage for scars, tattoos and even post-surgical redness without looking like you are wearing a mask. Ladies who had surgery where redness maybe seen on their faces where one of the ones to first discover true amazing coverage of mineral foundations.
Many brands all have the same ingredients, its how they are created that can make one far better than the other. Just look out for brands that use Talc because that is mostly used as filler. It can also cause a chalky, ashy look to your skin, particularly on darker skin tones. It can also cause bad reactions and breakouts.
Most quality mineral makeup brands do not use Talc as you see like cooking, mineral makeup recipes and the ingredients that are used are the true secret to a better product!
And there you go, a little more information for you to use when deciding if mineral foundation is right for you.
