Today nail enhancements are common place. They are an inexpensive
way to make your hands look prettier. With many moms taking their
young daughters with them while they are getting their weekly
manicure/pedicure or fills there will come a time when that daughter
will ask for her first set of acrylics. The question becomes when is
too young to get acrylics?

Many teens get their nails done parties or special events. There now glue
on nails you can pick up in your local drugstore that almost look as
good as getting your nails done by a nail tech. There is also a
type of nails you can get done that are temporary, the nail tech will
just apply a thin coat of acrylic or tips and glue. They are easy to
remove without causing damage to the natural nail. These types of
nails are good to help a teen decide if they really want to wear
acrylics all the time. Just wearing party nails for a few days maybe
all it takes to help a teenage change her mind. Acrylics aren’t for
everyone, there are also other choices such as gels, silk wrapped,
fiberglass to name a few.

Any good nail tech will sit down and talk with the teen and many will ask
for a parents signature giving them ok go do ahead.
Questions to think about before allowing your teenage daughter to get
acrylics.
1~ if she plays sports, does she understand that it might change her
game?
2~ Does she understand the cost of the upkeep?
3~ Does she understand that there is a maintenance schedule it takes to
keep the nails looking great?
4~ Does she understand the dangers of infection or what type of damage
that can happen to her natural nail if she doesn’t properly maintain
them?

There should be a age when the teen is too young and many nail techs
feel that anyone under the age of 15 isn’t really going to understand
just what it takes. There are other options and with the selection of
nails polishes out there, you really don’t need to enhance your nails
to enjoy how beautiful your nails can look wearing polish. Start your
daughter off by learning how to take care of her natural nails,
getting weekly manicures/pedicures will not only give you
great time together, you may learn a new thing or two about her.
