Do you talk with your hands? You may not notice but when you meet someone for the first time, they look at your hands and fingernails. If your nails do not look good because you haven't bothered to remove chipped nail polish lately says something about you, even though you may not realize it. That is why having a manicure every two weeks, or having nails done/filled every two weeks says something about how you might care about yourself and how you do things.
You don't have to be rich to have a manicure done or have nails done. But if a manicure doesn't fit your budget but you still want your fingernails look great, here is a step by step way to give yourself a at home manicure.
Giving yourself a personal at home step by step manicure not only saves you money it also saves you time. Not everyone has time to visit a manicurist every two weeks to get a professional manicure.
Believe it or not it can also be a great way to unwind from a hectic day by doing something just for you. Giving yourself a personal manicure shows that you really care about your fingernails and how your hands look.
The biggest trick to attaining flawless, chip-free nail polish results is to give yourself loads of time.
When you do your own step by step manicure you want to allow your nails to dry at least a hour if at all possible.
You will need:
Manicure Set
BB Nail Polish
Top Rock Top Coat or Extreme Rock Top Coat
Nail Strengthener if your nails are weak
If you don’t have a manicure gift set then you will need:
Nail File
Nail Clippers
Buffer
Cuticle oil or Olive Oil
Orangewood stick
Either way you will still need:
Nail Polish remover
Cotton Balls
Hand Scrub or Lotion
Q-Tips for any mistakes you might make.
Now lets get started!
Step one: remove all your old nail polish if you are wearing any with a cotton ball and non-acetone nail polish remover (it’s less drying than other formulas).
Step two: With a nail file take care of filing your nails in one direction to the desired length and shape. Sorry if you have a broken nail all your nails really need to be the same length to look their best. Don’t worry they grow back. Remember the best shape for your nails is a rounded squares because they are not only flattering but help prevent weaker nails from breaking.
Step three: Use a soft buffer to smooth the surface of each nail. Be careful because too much buffing with weaken your nails.
Step four: Soak your nails in a bowl of warm soapy water for five minutes. No more than five minutes because your nails will become too soft and you will have to wait till they dry to finish your manicure. Also your nail polish won't stick to nails that are too wet. Now use a hand scrub or just 1 Tablespoon of sugar and 1 Teaspoon of Olive Oil to create your own. You can give you’re a hot oil manicure if you like.

Lather your hands with a rich organic hand lotion.
Step five: Brush your nails with BB Couture cuticle oil or olive oil on the base of your nails only. Use the orangewood stick to gently push back the cuticles ( do not cut them!) then wrap cotton around the stick, dip it in nail polish remover to whisk away any oil still on the nails itself. This will remove any oil that will stop the nail polish from sticking to your nails.
Step six: Apply one thin coat of nail polish, wait at least three minutes before painting on a second coat of nail polish. Applying nail polish thick isn’t going to make it take less time because it will take your nail polish longer to dry and gives it a greater chance of smudging and or chipping.
Apply your Top Rock Top Coat to give your nails a beautiful shine and helps your nail polish from chipping sooner. Remember that light color nail polish doesn’t show its chips as much as a dark nail polish will.

Any mistakes? Nothing worse than chipped nail polish in a freshly done manicure. Here is a great tip to clean up any mistakes you may of done while doing your manicure. Dip a Q-Tip in your polish remover and work carefully to remove any nail polish on your skin. If you smudge your nail polish after finishing up your manicure you can fix that as well. All you need to do is carefully with a Q-Tip dipped in nail polish remover, run the Q-Tip over the smudged nail polish to get rid of any ridges. Then fill it in with another coat or two of nail polish. One of the reason's why when doing your own manicure of having your manicure professional done, that many just choose to wear a light, pale nail polish.
Don't forget that dark nail polish will show chips and smudges faster so do be very careful if you are going to use dark nail polish as your nail polish for your manicure. Always apply your Top Rock top coat to keep your dark nail polish from chipping.
Want to have so real fun? Why not ask your partner if he would be interested in a hot oil manicure. IF you promise he doesn't have to wear nail polish. Guys hands are drier than women's and they tend not to even bother with their nails. Maybe if you offer to give him a manicure he might paint your toes for you.
There you go how to give yourself a home manicure!
Here are a few tips to think about as well. The hardest part of do it yourself nail polish is applying nail polish with your non-dominant hand. When painting with your non-dominant hand, maximize your control by resting it on a book an inch or two above the table. If you can’t apply nail polish in three thin strokes don’t worry about it. Just apply a thin coat of nail polish in whatever way works for you.
What could be lots of fun is get your friends together and have a manicure party! You don't have to be a teenager to have a party, doing nails, manicures and pedicures. Your nails say a lot about you, and caring for them is something you need to be doing anyway. If you have a party then you can share different colors of nail polish and if you don't have something for your manicure, maybe your friends will. Saves them money as well.
